NEW YORK, December 13, 2018 – Goldman Sachs Asset Management announced today it has entered into an agreement to acquire Aptitude Investment Management. The acquisition will complement GSAM’s world-class alternative investments program and expand its suite of offerings for clients. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Aptitude is an investment management firm based in Seattle and Vancouver primarily focused on hedge fund investment solutions for large institutions. The firm manages investments through customized separate accounts and commingled funds of hedge funds for a select group of clients.

“We believe Aptitude’s experienced team, differentiated investment strategy and market-leading performance will position our platform for continued growth,” said Timothy J. O’Neill and Eric S. Lane, co-heads of the Consumer and Investment Management Division.

“We’re thrilled to become part of one of the world’s premier alternative investment platforms and look forward to leveraging their global resources, depth of talent and risk management expertise to enhance our delivery to clients,” said Aptitude’s co-CIO Jeff Klein.

The Aptitude team will join GSAM’s Alternative Investments & Manager Selection (AIMS) Group, which manages more than $200 billion of client assets as of September 30, 2018 and provides investors with investment and advisory solutions across third-party hedge fund managers, private equity funds, real estate managers, public equity strategies and fixed income strategies.

Aptitude’s team will remain in Seattle and Vancouver. The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2018.
