Fundamental Equity Team
The Goldman Sachs Asset Management Fundamental Equity team aims to generate strong, risk-adjusted and repeatable performance over the long term primarily through bottom-up security selection. We seek to uncover the most compelling investment opportunities through identifying businesses with strong or improving fundamentals, trading at discounts to what we believe they are worth through our deep research. We leverage the full spectrum of intellectual capital across our global platform, while benefitting from the local insights, deep expertise, and focused research of our investment teams, totalling $100+ Billion in assets under supervision (as of March 31, 2025), which equates to approximately 4% of total Goldman Sachs Asset Management assets under supervision. With 110+ professionals located in 13 global offices, our locally based investment teams conduct hands-on research for a broad range of portfolios. Apart from that, we have 40+ Client Portfolio Managers supporting the business along with Portfolio Construction and Engineering resources. Steven Barry is the Chief Investment Officer of the Fundamental Equity business who has over 40 years of investment experience. Steve Barry will retire at the end of 2025 at which point Basak Yavuz and Alexis Deladerriere will become co-CIOs of Fundamental Equity. At present, Basak Yavuz and Alexis serve as deputy Co-CIOs of the Fundamental equity franchise.
